Indefinite Hiatus
I’m putting this blog under indefinite hiatus. Getting way too busy with other stuff. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Yay 2010. Hope it’s better than 2009 and the Senate Agenda moves faster!
What the …
CALLER: Yeah doctor. Our small tea bag group here in Waycross, we got our vigil together and took Dr. Coburn’s instructions and prayed real hard that Sen. Byrd would either die or couldn’t show up at the vote the other night.
How hard did you pray because I see one of our members was missing this morning. Did it backfire on us? One of our members died? How hard did you pray senator? Did you pray hard enough
HOST: Senator Barasso, he was referring to Senator Inhofe, who was not part of the round of voting this morning.
BARASSO: The votes today, they needed 60 votes in favor of the bill. Senator Inhofe is opposed to the bill, and whether he was there or not didn’t make any difference. There was no way that Jim Inhofe was going to vote for the bill, the senator from Oklahoma. So that’s why he wasn’t there this morning.
HOST: Do you know where he was, senator, why he wasn’t able to make the vote this morning?
BARASSO: No, I don’t know.

That’s a McCain 2008 visor that Sarah Palin no doubt quit halfway through trying to blacken out McCain’s name.
She said it was no diss against McCain but was an attempt to stay incognito. But if she wanted to do that, shouldn’t she just go and buy a new visor? They’re only $5 bucks. Or is she going rogue against savings?
So bizarre.
You can probably guess why
. On health care, Majority Leader Reid said the timeline for health care reform may go beyond this year. I could link to the story but I’m too lazy to right now. Here’s a lolcat to raise everyone’s (and my) spirits:

There’s time enough to regroup, but Obama and the Democrats have to start delivering on health care and other campaign promises. I know exit polls from Va. and NJ had a solid majority saying they voted for local reasons, but next year will be a referendum on Obama and the Democrats so they best start delivering the change that was promised. The economy should be better next year and that’ll help but enacting the Democratic agenda will motivate the base to go out there and vote. An enthusiasm gap was clearly a problem in the 09 Gov. races. Also, like Hillary said when she was stumping for Obama, it’s all about jobs, baby, jobs.
NY-23 saved the night though. What an epic fail for the teabaggers, Sarah Palin, and Glenn Beck. Absolutely hilarious.

I’m thinking the August recess will not have as much Senate news as I would like so … The Senate Agenda Blog will have themed weeks devoted to issues the blog cares about! Without further adieu, next week will be devoted to
(drum roll)
Immigration!
That’s right. Next week will be Immigration Week, and the blog will devote postings to immigration news and issue profiles. The blog will still post Agenda news that comes up, but the themed issue will take center stage.
Stay tuned to Immigration Week the week of Aug. 17th!
Welcome to our blog!!! We’re just starting out but we’ve already got some of the accomplishments of the US Senate under the leadership of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on the Senate Agenda Index. But the Senate still has a lot of work to do like health care, energy, and immigration.
